I don't pretend to be one of those people that play on legendary, but I've been able to beat long campaigns on normal difficulty in rome, medieval 2 and empire without issue. Longstanding allies mean nothing even when your armies loom over them. This realm divide just feels like having a crusade or jihad called on you, only there isn't a turn limit. I wasn't going to lose the whole game by that, but it set me back and was bloody annoying. Then the next turn I think they bribed not only one of my settlements but one of my generals too. I just ragequit when Chosokabe landed a full stack on the island on the north coast. I think that earlier it was a kind of vent. Plus the agents swarming over my settlements causing havoc. Imagine my surprise then, when I see them coming at me from multiple factions in this game. I don't remember invasion fleets in rome or medieval. In fact I'm used to them getting easier the further you get as you build "momentum", and then just crush everything.
